Hiking across Northern Oman (Hajar Mountains)

After 2.5 years travelling the world by bicycle, I felt like switching things up and explore other ways to discover our planet. So I picked up a comfortable hiking backpack, loaded it up with all necessary equipment to live on the road, and flew to Oman (as it was winter in Europe).
The goal: Walking towards the Hajar Mountains with no real plans. Why walking? In certain scenarios I felt like the bicycle can limit ones freedom, for example when I would want to explore steep trails that are only feasible to overcome on foot, or when I would need to cover large distance in a short time.
My walk across Northern Oman started in the capital, Muscat, and would lead me across the Hajar Mountain range towards Al Hamra. I passed through the scnic Wadi Bani Auf and explored Bilad Sayt, arguably the most picturesque village in the country, before crossing the mountain range via a steep trail at Jabal Hatt. On the way I had countless friendly encounters with the hospitable Omanis & the large South Asian diaspora. It was my second time in Oman, having cycled from the UAE all the way towards Salalah on my previous visit, and I can't wait to be back in the future.
